Safe Zone! was conceptualized as a game that took the playstyle of Ghost Pop! and brought it up a few age brackets, while also attempting to push the graphic fidelity of mobile devices. While working on several other projects, I wrote the initial GDD, planned the production, and lead the design up until release.
The high-scope art style brought along a few challenges, and the design of the game had to work around some heavy constrictions. Knowing that, I’d designed progression and weapon randomization systems that kept players invested in constantly finding new weapons while reusing a limited amount of assets.
