Xaero Image was a Stealth Game made as a final project for uni. It was inspired by my love for Thief & Mirror’s Edge and built in a custom DirectX9 engine with C++. I acted as project manager, game & level designer, and gameplay programmer.

Formerly known as Trichroma (an early version where players could shift colors and hide in colored lights), Xaero Image went through several iterations before landing on the final design – a dystopian city where players (grid runners) avoid horrific AI robots.

Notable Features:

  • A complex, hand-crafted dystopian city with many routes of access, hiding areas, and multiple layers of verticality
  • Fast and smooth player movements, running, sliding, ledge mantling, leaning around corners
  • Fully dynamic Thief-like light gem system, allowing the player to hide in shadow
  • Ruthless AI robot enemies that patrol, track the player, and move through the city in unique ways (large enemy can bash through walls, light enemy can jump over gaps and small objects)
